Intro to Museums Intern
Project Description:
The selected intern will be introduced to the specifics of museum work through
generating marketing plans, assisting with events and event planning, conducting
studies and surveys, learning and implementing museum tours, assisting with the
re-organization of the education program, membership organization, and some administrative
work (phones, filing, data entry).
Work Schedule: The
intern must be able to volunteer a minimum of 100 hours over the course of the
internship. Weekly schedule is negotiable within the normal operating hours of
the museum. However, the intern should be able to work at least four-hour
shifts. Some afterhours and weekend work may be required.
Wage: This is a
volunteer internship opportunity.
Qualifications: Current
college students, graduate students, or high school seniors with a demonstrated
interest in museum and/or non-profit work are encouraged to apply.
Collections and Archiving Intern
Project Description: The selected intern will assist the
archivist with organization and care of the collection via inventorying
the museum’s current collections, scanning newspaper archives,
documenting library books, and organizing surfboard collection
paperwork.
Work Schedule: The
intern must be able to volunteer a minimum of 100 hours over the course
of the internship. Weekly schedule is negotiable within the normal
operating hours of the museum. However, the intern should be able to
work at least four-hour shifts. Some afterhours and weekend work may be
required.

Photography Intern
Project Description:
The selected intern will assist our photo editor with organizing, labeling, and
sorting our photo collection. The qualified candidate will learn basic aspects
of handling and working with both old and new photographs, and use of proper
photograph identifying equipment. Possible work with digital photos as well.

intern must be able to volunteer a minimum of 100 hours over the course of the
internship. Weekly schedule is negotiable within the normal operating hours of
the museum. However, the intern should be able to work at least four-hour
shifts. Some afterhours and weekend work may be required.
